Like makers of fine antique furniture, our master craftsmen utilize specific construction techniques that are time-tested for durability and flawless operation. We use dovetailed joints in wooden drawers, classical "butterfly" fittings within each mitered door face, single box construction of corner and specialty cabinets, and proven bracing methods. We even offer an elite line of cabinetry containing only solid wood, and we are the only manufacturer to still offer a solid wood custom cabinets.
Our other custom cabinet lines are made of solid wood as well, employ solid faces paired with species-specific plywood to make the sides, backs and shelving. Naturally, all of the plywood components used is the highest grade available. When building cherry custom cabinets, cherry plywood veneers are used, when building mahogany custom cabinets, mahogany plywood veneers are used. We also finish and stain the inside of the solid wood cabinets to extend another time honored tradition only found in Old River Cabinets.
Most cabinet manufacturers will fill a fourteen foot opening with 3 or 4 different cabinet
boxes
joined together, compromising quality, appearance, and function for ease of
installation, manufacture, and design. Old River Cabinets, on the other hand, will often craft a larger single unit custom
cabinet, when installation access is possible, to maximize the design quality and aesthetic appearance.
Our true-custom quality and flexibility is even being recognized by others within the industry as Old River Cabinets is sometimes subcontracted by other cabinet manufacturers to build custom cabinets for difficult fittings and specific settings they themselves are unable to produce given the design constraints of the job.
