Maple

Smooth texture, uniform grain, and characteristic light color are what make maple appealing, popular, and perfect for natural finishes. Mineral streaks are common in maple, but these hardwoods are usually a creamy, white color that may vary from white to tan. The mineral streaks are random dark streaks from mineral deposits absorbed from the soil and are naturally occurring. "Birds-Eye" figuring and "Worm Holes" are also naturally occurring characteristics sometimes present. Natural expansion and contraction may be more apparent in maple cabinets due to its density and hardness. This will be seen most at joints in the wood, which is one reason we try to build larger single cabinet sections rather than try to attach multiple smaller boxes to fill a space. Maple is a hard and strong wood with excellent shock resistance.
